Jill Valentine Figure

Jill Valentine has already survived the mansion when Nemesis begins hunting her through Raccoon City. Her blue beret belongs to the earlier S.T.A.R.S. investigation; the civilian clothes of Resident Evil 3 belong to an escape in which being one of its survivors makes her a target.

Jill figures revisit these appearances and her later work against bioweapons. The clothes change with the assignment, while her knowledge of Umbrella gives each return to danger a personal history.

Story and character

The S.T.A.R.S. investigation

In the first Resident Evil, Jill and the other members of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team investigate the disappearance of their colleagues in the Arklay Mountains. An attack drives them into a mansion, where they uncover the connection between the creatures and Umbrella’s research.

Jill’s beret and blue uniform identify her with that team. Their meaning comes from the investigation itself: the police specialists enter expecting to find answers, then have to survive the place that supplies them. This is the beginning of her direct knowledge of Umbrella’s activities.

The clothes of an escape

Resident Evil 3 puts Jill back in Raccoon City as the outbreak consumes it. Her attempts to expose Umbrella have been suppressed, and escaping the city becomes inseparable from getting the truth out.

The original game’s blue tube top and skirt and the remake’s blue tank top and trousers are different designs for that escape. Both place her outside the S.T.A.R.S. uniform. Nemesis is still pursuing her because of her connection to the team, making its repeated demand for S.T.A.R.S. a threat directed at her history.

Carlos Oliveira enters that struggle as a member of the U.B.C.S., Umbrella’s own response force. Jill has to contend with the danger in front of her while dealing with people whose employer is responsible for the disaster.

Returning to the fight in Revelations

By Resident Evil Revelations, Jill is a Special Operations Agent in the BSAA, an organization she helped found. With Parker Luciani, she searches for the missing Chris Redfield and Jessica Sherawat, following their trail to the Queen Zenobia.

Her diving outfit belongs to that shipboard investigation. It marks a later professional role in which she is actively pursuing bioweapons beyond Raccoon City. A S.T.A.R.S. uniform, an escape outfit and diving gear each connect a Jill portrayal to a different operation.

Jill’s changing uniforms trace her work from the mansion investigation to the fight against bioweapons that follows it.
