The first photograph of a figure can appear long before its retail box exists. Between that announcement and warehouse arrival, a design has to become a manufactured release. Following the edition and its stage of production helps make sense of the updates along the way.
Start with the edition
A character name identifies the subject, but several releases may share it. The manufacturer, range, version name and product code give you a more precise identity. Those details help keep an original release, a later production run and a different costume apart.
Bonuses need the same attention. An extra face or accessory can belong to a particular edition or offer. A photograph of it alongside the figure does not establish that it comes with every release of that design.
What a reissue brings back
A reissue puts an existing product into another production run. The new announcement may carry a different schedule or packaging, while the underlying design remains familiar. Any stated changes to parts or finish need to be read as changes to that edition, rather than assumed from the word reissue.
Production and warehouse arrival
Nin-Nin Game ships from Sakai, Osaka. Before dispatch can begin there, a finished release has to reach the warehouse through its Japanese supply chain. An announced release month and physical receipt are separate events, even when the retailer is based in Japan.
That distinction explains why an announcement can already have a shop page while the product is still a preorder. The listing gives the release a place in the catalogue before there is a parcel ready to send.
What arrival makes possible
Once the box has arrived, there is a physical package to process for an order. Receipt does not, by itself, mean a sealed figure has been opened for a review. Promotional photographs, photographs of the box and photographs of an assembled figure show different things.
The retail packaging is designed around the parts it protects. Hair, wings or a large scenic element can need space inside the box beyond the assembled figure’s footprint. This is why planning a shelf and planning a shipment call for different measurements.
Following an order through the stages
An announcement describes a release. A warehouse arrival makes stock available to process. Dispatch begins the carrier’s part of the journey. For an existing order, your account history is the place to follow its progress; an editorial article cannot track an individual parcel.
