Kakashi Hatake Figures

Kakashi’s first lesson for Team Seven is about refusing to abandon one another. Behind the teacher who arrives late and reads through conversations is a shinobi whose own team was torn apart by war.

Kakashi figures can recall the masked Jonin, his earlier Black Ops service or his later role as Hokage. The covered left eye and the Sharingan he reveals in battle are connected to the friend whose lesson he passes on to Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura.

Story and character

The lesson behind the bell test

Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura initially treat Kakashi’s test as a contest between individuals. He is testing whether they can put a teammate’s needs ahead of the rules. His apparent indifference gives way to an unusually firm judgment about what makes a shinobi worth trusting.

That lesson comes from his own past. As a young ninja, Kakashi had prioritized completing the mission; Obito challenged him over leaving a comrade behind. The teacher’s standards preserve what he learned when he could no longer keep that old team safe.

The eye Obito gives him

Obito is crushed by falling rocks while saving Kakashi. Believing himself near death, he gives Kakashi his left Sharingan to replace the eye Kakashi has lost. The forehead protector worn over it conceals a power inherited from a teammate.

It helps earn Kakashi his reputation as the Copy Ninja. Revealing the eye places an appearance in the context of using that ability; the cloth covering his lower face is a separate part of his familiar design. Chidori is his own creation, and he passes it on to Sasuke.

Black Ops service and the years afterward

The loss of Obito, Rin and his teacher Minato leaves Kakashi carrying several painful histories. His time in the Black Ops belongs to the period before he leads Team Seven. Its uniform marks a different assignment from the green flak jacket associated with his work as their Jonin teacher.

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Kakashi has to confront the past again when he learns who stands behind the masked enemy. After the war he becomes the Sixth Hokage, helping maintain the peace until Naruto is ready to succeed him. The later office extends his responsibility beyond the team he first taught.

Kakashi’s uniforms mark changing duties; the Sharingan and his insistence on protecting comrades carry the history beneath them.
