Broly Figures
Broly’s strength is frightening in both Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, but the films give him different histories. The warrior introduced in the earlier movies and the Saiyan raised on Vampa are separate interpretations of the character.
Broly figures carry those differences in their clothes, transformations and expressions. The jewelry and red sash associated with the Z films and the green fur worn in Super belong to different stories about Paragus’s son.

Story and character
The Broly of the Dragon Ball Z films
Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan introduces Broly in 1993, followed by Second Coming and Bio-Broly. The original film connects his enormous power to Paragus’s attempts to control him and to a confrontation with Goku and the other Saiyans.
The elaborate jewelry and red sash are part of this film design. His expanded Legendary Super Saiyan appearance turns the relatively restrained figure introduced earlier into the overwhelming opponent of the battle. That transformation belongs to the Z-movie interpretation.
Life on Vampa and the green fur
Dragon Ball Super: Broly gives him a new upbringing. Broly and Paragus have survived in exile on Vampa, a hostile world where Broly has had little opportunity to know anyone outside his father.
The green fur around his waist comes from Ba, the creature he befriended there. Paragus shoots Ba’s ear during Broly’s training, breaking the relationship. Broly keeps wearing the severed ear as a reminder of that first friend. The garment carries a personal history that his later opponents cannot see.
Cheelai and the chance to leave the battle
Cheelai and Lemo find Broly and Paragus while recruiting for Frieza’s forces. Cheelai objects to the way Paragus controls his son, steals the collar’s remote and destroys it.
When Broly is drawn into the fight against Goku and Vegeta and loses control, Cheelai uses the Dragon Balls to send him back to Vampa. The rescue makes his survival and the friendship developing around him part of the ending. Super’s Broly has a life to return to beyond the destructive power unleashed in battle.
Identifying the film behind a Broly design preserves the history of that character, especially the people and experiences behind his clothes.
