Makoto Niijima Figure
Makoto Niijima spends much of her school life being the person expected to have an answer. As Shujin Academy’s student council president, she is disciplined, capable and used to carrying responsibility. Joining the Phantom Thieves gives her a different way to act on her judgment.
Makoto figures draw on that student life and on Queen, her identity in the Metaverse. The dark riding clothes and motorcycle-shaped Persona belong to the same thoughtful young woman who is learning where to direct her resolve.

Story and character
Responsibility at Shujin Academy
Makoto is a third-year student, senior to the protagonist, with the academic ability and conduct expected of a model pupil. Her sense of duty can also make her inflexible. Being trusted to follow rules does not settle every question she faces about what is right.
That pressure gives her school appearance its context. The uniform belongs to days spent studying and handling student council responsibilities, before and alongside her work with the thieves. It recalls the circumstances that shape her decisions, rather than an unrelated casual version of Queen.
Queen brings her judgment into the Metaverse
Within the Phantom Thieves, Makoto becomes an important strategist and someone the protagonist can consult. The codename Queen suits a teammate who assesses a situation and is willing to act once she has reached a decision.
Her dark, armored riding outfit gives that readiness a markedly different appearance from her school clothes. The contrast is strongest when both are understood as parts of her life: the composed council president has not lost her intelligence or sense of responsibility when she puts on the mask.
Johanna is her Persona
Makoto’s first Persona takes the form of a large motorcycle. Johanna’s name refers to the legend of Pope Joan, a woman said to have held the papacy while concealing her identity. The figure at the motorcycle’s front brings that reference into its design.
Johanna is a supernatural being summoned by Makoto. The motorcycle form therefore has a different place in the story from an ordinary vehicle or a piece of riding equipment. When the two appear together in an illustration or sculpture, the subject is Queen with her Persona.
Makoto’s student council duties, Queen’s determination and Johanna’s unusual form give her representations distinct connections to Persona 5.
