Charizard Figure

Charizard is the point where Charmander’s evolutionary line takes flight. The small Fire-type partner becomes a winged Fire- and Flying-type Pokémon, retaining the flame at the end of its tail.

Charizard figures can recall that progression, a particular Trainer’s partner or one of its temporary battle transformations. The orange Charizard, Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y belong to the same species, with each transformation changing its familiar wings, flames and head.

The orange body, cream belly, broad wings and tail flame keep the familiar Charizard design at the center of the display.

Choose the standard form at the end of Charmander’s evolution line. Check the wings and tail’s full footprint if it will stand in a row of other Pokémon.

Mega X

Mega Charizard X MonColle

A dark body, blue chest and blue flames beside the mouth make Mega Charizard X stand out beside the orange figures.

This temporary Mega form is Fire/Dragon-type. The thicker body and angular wings give it a different silhouette from both the standard figure and Mega Y.

Mega Y

MonColle

Orange Mega Charizard Y MonColle with long horns, extended wings and tail flame

Mega Charizard Y MonColle

Mega Y stays orange while extending the horns and wings, with smaller projections along the body adding to its sharper profile.

The battle typing remains Fire/Flying. Look at the head and wing shapes as well as the color when choosing between Mega Y and standard Charizard.

Story and character

The wings at the end of Charmander’s evolution

Charmander evolves into Charmeleon, then Charizard. The wings arrive with that final evolutionary stage, adding flight to a design already built around fire. Its broad chest and long neck give the evolved Pokémon a very different bearing from the small partner at the start of the line.

The dragonlike appearance can be misleading about its typing. Ordinary Charizard is Fire and Flying. Dragon is a Pokémon type with its own rules, and resemblance alone does not put a species in that category.

What Mega Evolution changes

Mega Charizard X becomes Fire and Dragon. Its black body and blue flames make that transformation immediately visible. Mega Charizard Y retains the Fire- and Flying-type combination, with a changed head crest and wing shape.

Mega Evolution is temporary. X and Y are alternative Mega-Evolved forms of Charizard, rather than successive steps after Charmeleon. There is no evolution chain in which an orange Charizard must become X before it can become Y.

Gigantamax Charizard belongs to another system. Its enormous form and flame-shaped wings are associated with the Dynamax phenomenon, so it has a different origin from either Mega Evolution.

A species with different partners

In the animation, Ash’s Charizard has a relationship with its Trainer that develops through disobedience and hard-earned trust. Other Trainers have their own Charizard, with their own battles and histories.

That distinction leaves room for very different memories of the same Pokémon. A Charizard portrayal can bring back the partner a player raised from Charmander without needing to represent Ash’s individual companion.

The wings, tail flame and transformed appearances connect a Charizard figure to its evolution and battle history. Understanding those changes helps place the design within the Pokémon world.
