Akuma Figures

Akuma has embraced the Satsui no Hado, the destructive power Ryu struggled to reject. He continues to develop it in pursuit of strength, turning his connection to Ryu into a conflict over what a martial artist is prepared to become.

Akuma figures reflect that commitment through a harsh expression, heavy prayer beads and a body shaped by relentless training. His graying appearance in Street Fighter 6 places the same pursuit later in his life, with its effects increasingly visible.

Story and character

An opponent who interrupts the tournament

Akuma first appeared in Super Street Fighter II Turbo as a hidden challenger. His arrival displaced the expected final opponent, introducing a fighter whose presence did not follow the ordinary rhythm of the tournament.

Gouken, who trained Ryu and Ken, is Akuma’s brother. Their shared techniques come from a family connection as well as a martial tradition. Meeting Akuma brings Ryu face to face with a different use of the art he learned from his master.

The Satsui no Hado directs Akuma’s training toward duels to the death. He senses that power within Ryu and tries to awaken it, making him an active threat to the control Ryu seeks to maintain.

The cost of continuing down that path

In Street Fighter 6, Akuma lives and trains in Enma’s Hollow. He carves wooden figures of opponents he has defeated, filling the space around him with reminders of the fights that have shaped his life.

His gray hair and increasingly severe appearance follow that continued pursuit. The familiar dark gi and red-haired designs recall earlier games; the later form carries the history of someone who has spent still more years refining the same dangerous power.

His debut appearance returns as an alternate outfit in Street Fighter 6. The earlier red-haired design exists alongside the gray-haired one, allowing the game to revisit his past while showing the effects of the years since his first challenge.

An Akuma figure recalls a fighter who has made strength the organizing purpose of his life. His relationship to Ryu gives that choice a human consequence: they are connected by their art and divided by the limits they accept.
